So many wineries, so little time. It can seem a little overwhelming if you are considering packing all these wineries into one single trip. However, as Milton recalls a lesson learnt from his travels, the best approach to derive the most out of your wine adventures is to keep an open mind.

"I remembered we stopped for a meal at this restaurant called Winos in Margaret River, which has a superbly stocked cellar of the best Australian reds and whites. But friends have told me I should try their housepour," Milton says.

"If you haven't been to Winos, they serve their housepour from a 'beer tap', so your first impression would be: what kind of wine could possibly come out of there? But their housepour, to my surprise, is really really good! And they won't tell you where they get their housepour from," he continues.

Thus, although you might have done your research, don't go with pre-conceived ideas about what to expect or with the 'mission' to tick off the wineries you have planned to visit. It's always advisable to lend your ears to your local guide, and their recommendations. Take time to mingle with the winemakers, the locals or even the owner of the Bed & Breakfast in which you're putting up.

After all, you're there to have a great time, aren't you?
