Gadget fans and executives alike will rejoice at Logitech’s latest wireless laser mouse, the MX Air Rechargeable Cordless Air Mouse. Using what Logitech calls “Freespace Motion Control Technology”, the mouse recognizes physical gesture-based commands, which means you can now zip through mp3s or video clips, much like how you would on an Apple iPod. The difference is that instead of spinning a touch-sensitive disc, you would be drawing invisible lines and semi-circles in the air.
Logitech’s Freespace Technology recognizes that the mouse is no longer on a flat surface the moment it is lifted, and maps multiple axes of motion into accurate on-screen cursor movements. This means that you could hold the mouse in any orientation, point in any direction, and still enjoy easy and responsive in-air navigation – up to a range of 30 feet (10 meters). To scroll up and down, simply swipe your finger over the touch-sensitive scroll panel, which replaces the traditional scroll wheel.
Functions aside, the glossy black surface, silver chrome base and orange backlit keys are visual treats. And wrapping one’s fingers around the MX Air Mouse’s curvaceously sculpted body makes for an enjoyable tactile experience.![]()
