While I am not usually one to reject progress, it would appear that the automotive world has gone absolutely power-mad. Where once buyers in search of a thrilling drive could - and would, gladly, - make do with a healthy 300 or so horsepower (and 450 hp was just amazing), we now live in an age where there are more than a few manufacturers offering comfortable family sedans with over 500.

I will admit, albeit begrudgingly, that though some might argue that we live in truly fantastic times then, though the cynics amongst you (myself included) are doubtless watching in amusement and with baited breath for the whole power bubble to explode and deflate in a ($100-per-barrel shaped) instant. For it will be the adequately powerful, timeless machines that will once again rise to the forefront of our collective consciousness and be truly remembered for the objects of fascination they once were and always should have been... even if we no longer have the fuel to power them.

The timeless Aston Martin DB9 is just such a car. The biggest single contributor to the renewed vigor of an entire marque, the Nine, considered by many to be the world's most beautiful car in production, is emblematic of a storied company's renaissance. It encapsulates everything it means to be an Aston Martin in the 21st Century.
