HISTORY
Bamford Martin just doesn't have quite the same ring to it, does it? In 1914, after finding success at a hillclimb event, Messrs Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford, whose yearling company was hitherto known as Bamford & Martin Ltd, founded Aston Martin - named partly after the hill at which their car did well.
In the century or so since since then, the company has seen more than its share of financial ups and downs, culminating finally in their unprecedented sales success last year, when they turned a profit after nearly half a century of difficulty.
In all this time, however, the company's mission has remained unchanged: to build to the highest standards distinctive sports cars that are exhilarating to drive and own. The entire current range fulfills this brief, no question. From the decidedly aggressive V8 Vantage coupe to the flagship V12 Vanquish S sport gran turismo, every single Aston Martin built today has a common link to the company's illustrious past. And it is not just because of that evocative front grille they all sport. It is their persistent tradition of bespoke quality that makes the cars so special, and so worthy of the hallowed Aston name.
