In late September, 2008, Amanresorts officially opened their 19th property worldwide with the launch of The Aman at Summer Palace, Beijing.
A UNESCO World Heritage site, the 250-year-old Summer Palace was once a retreat for the Chinese imperial family. It includes palaces, pavilions and gardens.
The resort has been developed within the complex of palaces, pavilions and gardens, using a combination of original buildings and facsimiles.
It features 18 guest rooms and 33 suites, all linked to one another through elaborately hand-painted wooden passageways and courtyard gardens.
Of course, all the amenities of a contemporary resort are available here, including a spa, fitness centre and a 25-meter indoor pool.
