Singapore-based private jewelers The Jewel Box have launched
a limited edition collection of henna-inspired designs, appropriately named the
Henna Collection.
Henna typically serves as body art in many cultures; intricate
and delicately-weaved designs inspired by repetitive, linear motifs are often
the basis of henna body art. To this end, the Henna Collection has taken
inspiration from Mendhi designs, and incorporated the intricate designs into
the exclusive pieces of jewelry.
The collection features pieces which generally display as a
centerpiece, a gemstone such as agate, onyx, rhodochrosite and smoky
quartz. These centerpieces are then adorned with diamonds, and
white, yellow or rose gold “henna” lacework.
Jewel Box designer Vinod More
draws inspiration from elements of nature – individual jewelry pieces more
often than not come with a story to its design and craft.
The Henna Collection is now
available at The Jewel Box’s private gallery. Or catch the collection at the upcoming
Singapore JewelFest 2008, which runs from 23 October till 2 November.
