Amid the hustle and bustle in the Mission Bay district of San Francisco is a
modern retreat for the senses - the Mizu Spa. With a peaceful interior designed by architect
Stanley Saitowitz, Mizu (which means water) is themed around river rocks and
streams in a 1,800 square feet concrete space.
Those entering the day spa can pamper and rejuvenate
themselves to a wide choice of treatments including facials, massage and nails.
In the communal area, one is attended to on a white prosthetic throne, which takes centerstage in the spa, for a foot massage or nail treatment.
One of their unique offerings is a hot stone manicure or pedicure, which is a
55-minute hot stone massage using aromatherapy oils finished with a diamond
buff, exfoliation, cuticle shaping and polish of the nails.
As for facials, make your way to the private rooms. There's a variety of luxurious facials to choose from. Amongst some is the Caviar Facial for deep toning and hydration, the
Antioxidant Vitamin C Facial with an application of natural Spirulana Algae to
combat premature aging and the Microdermabrasion Facial that uses powerful
magnesium oxide crystal to resurface the skin and minimize the effects of sun
damage.
The service of this day spa means that one even those on the
go can pop in for an instant pick-me-up. The time of each service ranges from
20 minutes to 80 minutes, and prices start from US$50 up to US$200 for each treatment.
