Porsche have introduced their new generation Targa, the 911
Targa 4 and Targa 4S. The new models feature 16.58 sq ft glass roofs specially
treated to filter out UV-rays, sliding back effortlessly in just seven seconds
to expose the open space above the passenger cabin.
The roofs also come with
electronically controlled sunblinds that will offer greater privacy than
before.
The 2009 all-wheel-drive Targas will come with direct fuel
injection engines for improved performance and fuel economy, either the
seven-speed PDK Porsche-Doppelkupplungsgetriebe or double-clutch gearbox, and the electronically
controlled Porsche Traction Management system.
The 911 Targa 4 will be powered
by a 3.6L flat-six, with its 345 bhp bringing it to a top speed of 176 mph. The
3.8L 911 Targa 4S will deliver a maximum output of 385 bhp, taking it to a top
speed of 184 mph.
Inside the 911 Targas,
the new Porsche Communication Management 3.0 system will provide touchscreen
operation of the audio system as well as the optional hard disk drive
navigation system.
The new 911 Targa 4 and
Targa 4S will be available in the United States in October at US$89,500 and
US$100,100 respectively.
