Tom Ford’s eagerly anticipated boutique in Milan opens
tomorrow – his first retail store in Europe – and the former creative director
of Gucci is set to showcase his Spring Summer 09 collections. It is befitting
that Ford chose Milan to open his first boutique in Europe. After all, it was
here that Ford made his name with Gucci.
Located at Via Pietro Verri, 3, the Milan boutique is a
five-floor, 9,149 sq foot space smacked right in the heart of Milan’s prominent
shopping district, also known as the Golden Triangle.
And just like his first
directly operated boutique which opened in April 2007 on Manhattan’s Madison
Avenue, Ford’s Milan outfit will showcase the designer’s complete menswear
collection including men’s ready-to-wear and made-to-measure clothing,
footwear, accessories, eyewear and fragrance collections under the Tom Ford
label.
Ford says of his Milan store: “Our goal with this store is
to address an extremely discerning luxury customer who demands the highest
quality of product and service.”
Ford has lined up more flagship stores as part of his global
expansion plans, with flagship stores to open in London, Zurich, Tokyo, Kuwait
and Hong Kong over the next two years, and more than 100 free-standing Tom Ford
outlets worldwide over the next 10 years.
