The Reventon will form the basis for future generations of
Lamborghinis, says the Italian marque’s Design Head Manfred Fitzgerald. Notable
design features such as the angular surfaces, arrow nose and forward projecting
air intakes are evident in the recently launched Gallardo LP560-4.
These details were revealed during a lecture by VW Group’s
Design Director, Walter De Silva earlier this week at the old Fiat Lingotto
factory in Turin, Italy.
De Silva outlined his design vision for Lamborghini, while
chief engineer Maurizio Reggiani added that power-to-key ratio would be the
prime consideration in future designs – which means goodbye to the traditional
welded steel chassis and hello to the use of more composite materials to shed
weight while improving on strength.
In an interview with Car magazine, Reggiani says future
Lamborghinis will also continue with the four-wheel-drive contrary to rumors of
a two-wheel drive in the works for the upcoming Murcièlago SV while refusing to
confirm if the SV will adopt the dual clutch transmission that are seen in the
other brands in the VW Group.
