Porsche Design Group has launched its first olfactory
offering – a men’s scent called The Essence, created in partnership with
Parfums Azzaro of the family-owned Groupe Clarins.
Artical, a scent by International Flavors & Fragrances
(IFF), was the inspiration behind The Essence, for an ultrafresh fragrance
infused with a touch of the Arctic.
In an interview with Women’s Wear Daily, Brigitte Lacaze,
international marketing manager for Porsche Design, says that Azzaro executives
target the user of The Essence to be “an urban, cultured, intelligent, sporty,
and sensual man”, aged between 25 and 50.
The Essence has top notes of Article, juniper and
blackberry, with heart notes of Russian coriander, black pepper and Siberian
pine. Fir balsam, patchouli and incense form the base notes of the scent.
Porsche Design’s trademark brushed aluminium detailing is
immediately recognizable from the glacial blue colored bottle.
The fragrance
will be introduced in Europe, the Middle East and North America at Porsche
Design stores and selected boutiques come early October this year, before
rolling out in Asia, Latin America and Africa in 2009.
