An ambitious project by David Fisher’s firm Dynamic
Architecture looks set to be yet another new addition to Dubai’s skyline.
Construction on the radical rotating design, first conceptualized in 2007, is
set to commence this month.
The building’s 59 floors will be capable of rotating about a
central axis, their continuous motion allowing residents in the tower’s 200
apartments to enjoy changing views from their individual units. Each will house
12 pre-fabricated units, complete with their own plumbing and electricity,
individually assembled and fitted about the building’s core.
Designed to harness energy from the sun and the wind, the
building’s roof will be fitted with solar panels and 48 wind turbines, which
will be sandwiched between its rotating floors. It is hoped that the proposed
design will be able to generate ten times the energy it requires. Plans are also underway to construct a
similar tower in Moscow.
