Eco-friendliness and sustainability are the dominant traits
these days as new products that appear on the market often emphasize some
aspect of their environment-saving attributes, whether through use of
sustainable, recyclable materials or compensation of carbon footprints.
Chicago-based company Noon Solar makes bags, totes and
satchels that not only make use of biodegradable materials, natural dyes,
pigments and chrome-free leather, they also slap on a solar panel onto your
carrier’s body. And they manage an excellent job of dressing up the solar
function as well, so your bag does not look like a fashion faux pas.
The obvious advantage of having a solar panel on your bag is
that now you do not have to worry about your mobile phone or iPod dying on you.
Noon Solar’s collection last Fall comprises the Cortland Tote, the Willow Tote
and the Logan Satchel, which feature a flexible solar panel that charges a
lithium-ion battery pack inside the bag.
A full charge takes 6-8 hours, and
this can then be output to charge your mobile or notebook via a USB connection
or an iPod cable, in the case of an iPod.
We are pleased to offer you a sneak preview of Noon Solar’s
Spring/Summer Collection. The company also has plans to release a new
collection this Fall under the label “Noon”, which uses the same biodegradable
materials but without solar panels.
