Bologna-based master craftsmen of exquisite writing
instruments Omas has unveiled a limited edition of fountain pens and
roller-balls in partnership with Italian luxury carmaker Maserati.
Made in sterling silver, the Omas for Maserati Collection
are limited to exactly 1,914 pieces, marking the centenary celebrations of the
Modenese company’s founding.
The pens in this collection took design cues from the
Maserati GranTurismo, from the aerodynamically shaped pen cap to the grille
feature at the top of the pen cap.
Omas, which stands for Officina Meccanica Armando Simoni,
has been making luxury writing instruments since its founding in 1925 by
Armando Simoni.
Two of his most significant contributions are the conception
of the classic twelve-sided Arte Italiana model, which resembles the Doric
columns of ancient Greek and Roman architecture, and the Doctor’s Pen, which
incorporates a tiny clinical thermometer in the pen’s body. Simoni’s legacy is
now being upheld by his grandson, Gianluca Malaguti Simoni.
