Priced at €4,166 (or US$6,485) per bottle, this 12-bottle
limited edition set of Perrier-Jouet champagne, pops into the record books as
the world’s most expensive bubbly.
According to French drink firm Pernod-Ricard, a complete set
of 12 will be sold at €50,000, and is targeted at a “super-rich” global elite.
Only 100 of these champagne sets will be produced.
Prospective
buyers will have the chance to personalize their own champagne after a
one-on-one meeting with Perrier-Jouet’s cellar master Herve Deschamps at
Epernay, France.
They
will then personally add a 'liqueur' (a combination of sugar and wines from
different years) to customize their bottles of 2000 Belle Epoque champagne.
Buyers can opt to keep their champagne in Perrier-Jouet's cellars for eight
months.
A limited edition of three-liter Dom Perignon champagne
holds the previous record when it sold for €12,000 (or US$18,526) in 2005.
