Nothing Feisty About The Virago

Its name is derived from a Greco-Roman term, and denotes anything from 'feisty', 'Amazonian style' to 'heroic warrior woman', according to the company’s website.

But there seems little to suggest that Virago’s two-seat sports coupe will live up to its namesake or set pulses racing when it debuts at the Top Marques Show in Monaco next month.

Have a look at the Virago’s specifications: a 3-liter Duratec V6 engine producing between 230bhp and 280bhp, powers the car from rest to 100 km/h (or 0-60 mph) in less than 5.5s.

Top speed is capped at slightly above 240 km/h (or about 150 mph)  - reasonably fast enough but not record-breaking stuff, especially for a new British firm trying to carve a niche in the world of Italian supercars.

The Virago has been priced at €70,000 (or about US$107,750). But for now, the company is seeking private investment for the construction of manufacturing plants for low volume production.
