A Home Away From Home - the M-hotel

A temporary hotel that can be moved, or taken apart and used as separate units after it has served its purpose of providing some form of housing? This is the brainchild of Architect Tim Pyne and the first of its kind would be seen on the streets of London, meters away from Shoreditch House on Sclater Street by the end of this year.

It works in such a way that it arrives in units, usually 500 square feet in total and each unit within this space will be 4m wide and 12m long. Simply put, the M-hotel will be made like a series of steel-framed boxes that slot into a frame and can be dismantled for another use. In the event that the demand for space increases, the building could be easily made bigger.

The exterior of the hotel is branded using bus-film technology so the building can be given a specific appearance to each site. At the same time, it can also provide advertising opportunities. This serves as an apartment hotel to meet the needs of European businessmen who need places to live in which are not just hotels.
