After a highly successful run in Europe,
the Cannonball 8000 is coming to South East Asia Rally. To be held between 24 to
26 April 2009, the Cannonball 8000 SEA Rally 2009 will see 50 participating
supercars traverse from
Singapore to
Phuket.
Built on the classic Cannonball Run movie trilogy of the 80s, the
Cannonball 8000 franchise was founded in 2002, when it saw 50 cars travel from
London to Monte Carlo over three days of fine dining, luxurious hotels and
decadent partying. By 2007, the rally had grown to 120 cars and also raised
about 100,000 pounds for charities.
The 2009 Rally route through
Singapore,
Malaysia and
ultimately Phuket in
Thailand was
chosen specifically to maximize the visual spectacle of the congregation of
supercars.
