Audi’s new premium contender in
the compact executive class, the A3 Cabriolet, will roll into showrooms in
spring 2008.
Opting for a fabric top rather
than the more-fashionable hard-top, the A3 Cabriolet balances a sporty look with
extremely clean lines which whisper discreet class. No obstrusive bulges and
vents here.
Indeed, the new A3 Cabriolet
focuses on build quality and lifestyle usability rather than all-out
performance, and such focus is notable in its emphasis on interior and luggage
space. The latter can be easily increased from 260 litres to 674 litres via its
expandable trunk design, no mean feat considering the retracted roof fits in the
trunk as well.
In the interior you will find
Audi’s trademark quality, with excellently finished controls and 4 roomy
seats.
Yet all this description of
luggage space and controls should not detract from Audi’s underlying sporting
pedigree, which is reflected in the availability of the dual-clutch S-tronic
transmission and the award-winning 2.0 TFSI gasoline engine. For diesel lovers,
the 2.0 TDI engine churns out an excellent 320n/M of torque for real-world
utility.
